It is the best UPS out there for a home computer- in fact it is quite overkill for any home PC. Here are the reasons:(1) it has automatic voltage regulation- it increases the voltage if the wall voltage is too low and decreases it if the wall voltage is too high.(2) it is a "pure" sine wave UPS- feeding clean sine wave power to your PC versus stepped approximations that cause noise and trouble for some modern 80Plus power supplies.(3) it has a massive amount of power and backup capacity- it weighs about 50 lbs. Let me put it like this- I have an 800W PS high end graphics card and OC CPU. Running prime 95 simultaneously with "heaven DX11 benchmark" to max out my CPU and GPU load, the APC unit "load" meter had only 3 lights out of 5 illuminated (actually only 2 most of the time). It powered the PC over 10 minutes in this condition whereupon I gave up and plugged it back in- it could have gone longer. In most instances you have only 1 or zero lights illuminated on the load meter. There is nothing they could have done to improve this- its ***silent*** in normal operation. The newer versions have fans which are quite loud. When this was delivered and I could barely pick up the package I knew I went too far- its simply too powerful for most home systems.
